Just sitting here wondering what’s going on in Texas politics. When did we become the elect a kook state? For some time I have been concerned about the representation we have been electing on both a state wide basis and those we elect state wide to go to Washington.
As black man born in the middle of the last century I have often been dismayed by my states election results, I have only on an infrequent basis been embarrassed to acknowledge our elected officials. But folks when our governor doesn’t know that New Orleans is not in Florida, senator John Cornyn is not conservative enough, and Ted Cruz is a conquering hero this state has entered the twilight zone. I can not remember a time when we have so little influence in Washington. Let me iterate John Cornyn is too conservative for my tastes but I respect him and he brings honor to the state. Ted Cruz on the other hand is an unmitigated disaster. I realize that I may be practically alone as per the Texas electorate at present, but I have no doubt that history will bear me out.
Texas has been a very conservative state for much of my lifetime but it has not elected non serious, comical politicians to represent us nationally. I don’t know what small group of people has taken the power in this state or what their agenda is? I do know that” the emperor” has no clothes and this insanity must stop.
Lest anyone think these are the musings of a dyed in the wool democrat, you would be wrong. As I often remind my democrat friends Texas was a proud segregated Jim Crow state under the rule of democrats. I repeat during the worst of times Democrats ran Texas. I don’t long for democrat control of Texas, I weep for my beloved state and what seems to me a headlong rush into political insanity.
